The President of Miss Grand International issues an apology to contestants and fans amid the controversy involving Cambodian organizers.
At the press conference introducing the Miss Grand International (MGI) 2024 contestants on the evening of October 10, Mr. Nawat – the chairman of the contest – apologized to the contestants and fans for the scandal with the organization in Cambodia last week. Currently, everyone is present in Thailand and Nawat believes that the contest is continuing with the best preparation.
“I also want to apologize to the national directors once again. Don’t worry, because if it’s in my hands, everything will be better. Don’t forget to support all the contestants representing the countries,” Nawat said.
Also at the press conference, the girls performed on the catwalk and called out their names. Vietnam’s representative, Vo Le Que Anh, walked confidently and had a sexy style, but the way she called out her name was not really impressive.
According to Nawat, on October 11, the girls will go to Pattaya and then participate in many activities in Bangkok.

MGI 2024 started in Cambodia in early October with 74 contestants. But after photos of a party on a yacht with inadequate facilities went viral on October 6, Mr. Nawat decided to strip the Cambodian team of the hosting rights. The competition is now down to 72 candidates, with representatives from Cambodia and Costa Rica announcing their withdrawal.
The Miss Grand President said that suddenly bringing the contestants back to Thailand caused huge losses. Nawat had to spend 1 million baht (nearly 30,000 USD ) to buy plane tickets for the crew and contestants, and another 200,000 baht (more than 5,000 USD ) to rent a hotel.
On the other side of the battle line, the Miss Cambodia organization held a press conference, asking Nawat to take responsibility for the plans that had arisen. In it, Miss Sotheary Bee said that the Miss Grand president did not respect the Cambodian team, preferring to do things his own way. She criticized Nawat for causing conflict while the message of the contest was “stop war and violence”.
