Scarlett Johansson Discusses the ‘Pressure’ to Get Her 10-Year-Old Daughter an iPhone: ‘Hard for Me to Process’
Scarlett Johansson wants to keep her kids off of social media for as long as she can.
As a guest on the Tuesday, Nov. 26 episode of Today, the actress, 39, opened up about how she feels about getting iPhones for her children: daughter Rose, 10, whom she shares with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac, and son Cosmo, 3, whom she shares with her husband, Colin Jost.
“I have a little guy who’s three, so he’s not on a phone. He’s into Legos,” Johansson said with a laugh, adding, “My daughter’s 10 and so there’s a lot of that pressure coming around now, especially if she’s hanging out with older girls.”
The mom of two continued to share that “it’s hard for me to process” the idea of giving children phones.
“I don’t know, I think social media is hard for young people,” she explained. “It’s hard for me to process. I feel like technology is moving so much faster than our human egos can process.”
She then admitted, “I’d rather her wait until she’s an adult to be able to participate.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Johansson chatted about the new Wicked movie, admitting that she’s “desperate to see it.” She also shared that Rose already saw the blockbuster without her.
“No, I’m desperate to see it,” the mom of two said. “My daughter saw it without me and I’m really upset about it!”
She added, “I’m going to make her go again, for sure. I’m sure she’d be happy to.”
