Rosé Breaks Down in Tears While Discussing Online Harassment of Female Artists
Rosé burst into tears when talking about online harassment of female artists. The BlackPink member shared about her time as a trainee at YG Entertainment.
In a recent interview with the New York Times , Rosé emotionally shared about the challenges of being a Kpop idol, especially the cyberattacks and harassment that female artists face.
At the age of 15, Rosé auditioned for YG Entertainment. She was accepted and moved from Australia to South Korea to begin her trainee period. Looking back on her early days, the BlackPink member opened up about the loneliness she faced.
“I didn’t understand the loneliness I was experiencing. That shock became a trauma for me. But I survived,” Rosé said. She revealed that the process of becoming an idol involved many stages and that rehearsals often ended in the early hours of the next morning. She also admitted that the fear of returning to Australia in failure helped motivate her.

Tears welled up as Rosé spoke about cyberbullying: “I don’t want to get emotional about it. I consider myself a strong and positive person, but I feel terrible when it happens. Luckily, writing songs helped me get through it.”
When asked about her biggest challenges, Rosé highlighted K-pop fan culture: “We’re trained to present ourselves perfectly at all times, even when interacting directly with fans. I feel like I have a responsibility to do that when I appear in public.”
Recently, Rosé and Bruno Mars caused a stir with the hit APT , both of them won the Global Sensation Award at the MAMA awards ceremony. Accordingly, Rosé’s debut solo album, Rosie , is expected to be released in early December.
