PSY’s Mansion Seized for Five Months and Still Labeled as a Rape; Rapper Fined for Construction Violations
Yonhap News reported on November 26 that the Hannam-dong villa owned by singer PSY was confiscated due to nonpayment of fines. PSY explained through his management company that he failed to pay the fines on time due to delays in verifying invoices. He himself was unaware of the illegal expansion that occurred during the construction of the villa.
According to Korean media reports on November 26, PSY violated construction laws, specifically changing the purpose of use and illegally expanding the villa. The villa is located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The Yongsan-gu office confiscated the house in May. The confiscation was lifted after PSY paid the fine in October. Regarding the above issue, PSY also affirmed that he did not change the purpose of use or illegally expand the house.

According to Chosun , PSY and his wife bought a luxury villa and an adjacent office at UN Village in Hannam-dong, Seoul in 2008. The rapper then built a staircase to connect the two buildings. The couple lived in the villa until 2020, then moved to Park Hannam and rented out the villa.
Someone then filed a complaint with the Yongsan-gu Office that the villa had been illegally expanded, specifically the staircase that had been added. The Yongsan-gu Office later confirmed that the complaint was true and notified PSY and his wife, requesting the rapper to return the house to its original state.
However, PSY did not comply with the above request for a long time. By December 2021, PSY’s villa continued to have a reinforced concrete ceiling built. Thus, the male rapper violated the law for the second time. After nearly a year of PSY refusing to pay the fine and correct the violation, the management agency confiscated the building. It was not until October 28 that PSY paid the fine. The confiscation order was officially lifted. However, because PSY has not yet restored the building to its original state, the place is still labeled as a violating construction. Regarding this issue, PSY’s company said that it is preparing to hire a construction company to fix the problem.
