A body language expert suggested that Melania Trump is taking notes from another powerful woman in a high profile relationship

As Melania resumes the role of First Lady, she is finding ways to assert her dominance, according to an expert

All eyes are on former first lady Melania Trump, as she prepares to take on the role once again. Body language experts are drawing conclusions and comparisons about her attitude toward life in the spotlight.

Body language expert Darren Stanton has even suggested that the former model and mother to Barron, seems to be using Meghan Markle as her key inspiration. Markle found herself in a similar position when she married Prince Harry back in 2018, and went from a mild level of stardom thanks to her acting career, to being the target of a media storm.

Stanton suggested that Melania – although not politically aligned with Meghan – may be following her lead in other areas as she grapples with a level of fame and attention that was not her choosing. Speaking to Irishstar.com on behalf of Spin Genie, he explained how both women use the same tactics to display confidence.

“Meghan and Melania are both tall and use their height to their advantage, standing up straight and maintaining a good amount of eye contact with whoever they are conversing with,” Stanton said. “Meghan never displays signs she’s nervous or anxious, such as fiddling with buttons or touching the back of her neck. She captivates the camera and commands a room with ease. Melania displays very similar traits and can steal the spotlight without doing too much.”

He also pointed out the similarities between their fashion choices, which according to him is more than just a shared sense of style and actually says a lot about how they want to be perceived.

“Meghan has been spotted wearing red on a number of occasions and it’s a bold color choice. It’s a superhero color, as they typically favour primary tones. It’s a color that you wear to stand out and grab attention. Even when Meghan is in a more neutral tone, she may opt for a bold accessory, like a quirky hat to grab attention.

“It’s a clever tactic to ensure all eyes are on you without making it obvious you want the attention. Melania could likely adopt the same color palette as Meghan because she sees the power it has. Meghan manages to steal the limelight every time she’s out.”

Both Melania and Meghan have managed to assert themselves as public figures in their own right, Meghan with her lifestyle blog and brand, and Melania with her self-titled memoir. However, as Stanton points out, they more often than not find themselves in a secondary power position to their husbands. He said that they both use subtle power moves to communicate with their partners.

“One of Meghan’s subtle techniques with Harry is to touch his elbow when he’s mid conversation and it’s a way to signal she would like attention or she would like to leave,” Stanton said. “You can see Harry reacting accordingly almost every time. She can also give a subtle look to Harry that is his cue to bring her into a conversation. She never makes it too obvious though. She also touches Harry’s lower back, which is a power move to assert authority. Even if she’s letting him lead the way, she will place her hand on the small of his back to regain some control.

Melania does the same with Donald Trump when they’re together. Like Meghan, she’s careful to not steal the spotlight but this subtle move shows she has some control in the relationship. Melania has also been known to signal how she is feeling to her husband with a look. She can say a lot with her eyes.”
