Porter was the mother of his child, Christian, and enjoyed an on-and-off relationship with the 55-year-old, who is now charged with human trafficking, racketeering and transporting people for prostitution, until 2007.
And during one of their splits, he turned to the On The Floor singer as a method to get back at Porter and to remind her of what he thought she was missing out on, by dating Lopez who was 31 at the time.
“I thought, ‘I’ll test the waters,'” Combs said to Essence in 2007. “‘And hopefully Kim will see I’m serious and come running after me.'”
And as part of that quest, he and Lopez appeared inseparable and he even described her as a “perfect match” before they called things off in 2001, with the model and actress going on to marry Chris Judd later that year.
However, Porter stood her ground despite him being single and was well aware of his feelings for her, waiting until 2003 before returning to the I’ll Be Missing You performer. They were together for four more years, before they decided to permanently go their separate ways.
Across their time together they had three children together, including Christian and two twins named Jessie and D’Lila, who eventually had to mourn and bury their mother in 2018 after she died of lobar pneumonia.
When does Sean Combs stand trial?
It’s unclear whether either Lopez or Porter knew what Combs was allegedly doing behind closed doors at his white parties and freak off events, where it’s said he drugged countless people and forced them to have sex.
That list has grown ever since Cassie Ventura’s explosive lawsuit in which she alleged he raped, abused and trafficked her. Combs settled out of court within 48 hours of the document being filed on the premise he got to maintain innocence.
He was then arrested by the Department of Homeland Security and is currently awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution, which will begin on May 5, 2025.
He currently denies all charges and allegations against his name, and remains detained in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
