Christina Hall’s Estranged Husband Josh Attempts to Prevent Her from Selling the Tennessee Home He’s Residing In.
Josh Hall is trying to prevent his estranged wife Christina Hall from selling her house that he’s been living in.
The HGTV star, 41, shared that she was listing her Leipers Fork, Tenn. farmhouse for sale on Oct. 4 for $4.5 million. However, she’d previously made a temporary legal agreement with her ex, 44, that said he could continue living there, as a source previously told PEOPLE he’s done since their split.
That agreement, filed in September and acquired by PEOPLE, stated the Josh could use the Tennessee house as long as it was not being rented out. Christina has previously said she has rented the house, which was the setting of her HGTV spinoff Christina in the Country, when she was not staying there.
The Christina on the Coast star purchased the home in February 2021 before she and Josh met and is the sole owner, according to court documents she filed in July.
In a document dated Oct. 9, Josh requests that the court prevent or postpone the sale of the property. While Christina is the sole owner of the house, Josh claims that he has an “appreciation interest” in it as well because of mortgage payments made during their marriage.
He also claims that Christina requested they make an agreement to sell the house, which he says he rejected, before she proceeded to list it.
Josh cites the September temporary agreement allowing him to live in the property, alleging he has been staying there when it was not being rented, as stipulated, and stayed with family when it was in use. If the house is sold, he claims, “my living expenses will undoubtedly increase.”
Christina responded the following day with a filing of her own stating that she “gave proper and timely notice” to Josh about the listing and claiming that he lives with his mother and only uses it as a “vacation property.”
Sharing the news of the home’s listing on her Instagram Stories on Oct. 4, Hall wrote that she was “excited for a new venture in business & real estate,” before sharing a message seemingly aimed at Josh in a second post.
“I guess ‘Leiper’s Fork’ is gonna have to come off the bio soon,” she wrote, referencing a recent update to Josh’s Instagram in which he changed his location to the Nashville suburb. He moved out of their shared $12 million mansion in Newport Beach, Calif. in early August, PEOPLE previously reported.
“Time to go back to reality soon… Remember when you said you would never steal from me or my kids and you would just be happy in a van with your dog? I guess plans changed 🤔,” Christina continued. “All about trying to take everything you can… With your mind on my money and my money on your mind… 💰🎶. Byeeee✌🏻”
A representative for Josh shared a statement with PEOPLE at the time that read in part, “These are false, libelous claims. Josh hasn’t stolen a penny from her or her family. This is a red line, and Christina has crossed it.”
Christina’s post was seemingly in reference to the $35,000 in rental income that, according to a court filing by Christina, was transferred by Josh to his personal bank account the day after she told him she planned to file for divorce. Josh alleged at the time that the money was to pay for expenses associated with the property, for which he claimed to handle all bills.
Their September legal agreement states that Josh will return that amount to Christina and Christina should control all finances associated with the rental.
The former couple began dating around March 2021, went public with their relationship that July and secretly wed in a private courthouse ceremony that October.
Josh filed for divorce on July 15, 2024 citing “irreconcilable differences” and requesting spousal support from Christina. In her response on July 24, Christina requested neither spouse be allowed to receive financial support.
