Andy Cohen Discusses Teddi Mellencamp’s Bravo Future Post-Divorce: What’s Next for the Reality Star?
Andy Cohen isn’t convinced that Teddi Mellencamp should jump back into being a Real Housewife after filing for divorce from Edwin Arroyave.
Over the weekend, Cohen, 56, weighed in on Mellencamp’s future on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after a fan asked during his “Ask Andy” panel at Bravo Fest in Miami, Florida, if she could return amid recent events. The fan also wondered if Mellencamp could join The Real Housewives of Orange County.
“It doesn’t seem like the crowd is that enthusiastic,” Cohen teased during his Saturday, November 23, panel per The Daily Dish, after asking the audience if they’d want to see Mellencamp, 43, back on TV.
The Housewives producer stated, “I don’t know why she has become such a villain in the audience’s perspective. She seems to be a truth teller and she’s very smart, I think. But I don’t know.”
While Cohen didn’t seem opposed to Mellencamp’s return, he pointed out, “We just started Beverly Hills,” referring to the show’s season 14 premiere on Tuesday, November 19.
“So, we’re not thinking about casting for next season right now,” he explained. (Mellencamp starred on RHOBH for seasons 8, 9 and 10 before exiting in 2020.)
When it comes to switching franchises and appearing on RHOC, Cohen noted they are also set on the casting front. “I think we’re good right now for OC,” he shared following season 18’s explosive three-part reunion earlier this month.
Cohen’s remarks come weeks after Mellencamp made headlines for her split from Arroyave, 47. The former reality star announced on November 2 that she and Arroyave called it quits after 13 years of marriage.
Shortly after she filed for divorce, Arroyave filed a response, requesting their prenup be enforced, according to court docs obtained by Us.
Arroyave also requested joint legal and physical custody of the pair’s three kids: daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 4, and son Cruz, 10. (Arroyave is also the father of daughter Isabella from a previous relationship.)
As fans were reeling from the divorce news, Mellencamp’s alleged affair with her horse trainer, Simon Schroeder, came to light.
Us confirmed on November 13 that Mellencamp “had a thing several months ago” with Schroeder, the source said, “It’s not still happening.” A second insider claimed that Schroeder’s wife, Karli, “confirmed the affair” to Arroyave.
Prior to their split, “Teddi and Edwin had been working on the problems of their marriage, despite his past indiscretions,” the first source exclusively told Us, while multiple insiders said that Arroyave “cheated on Teddi more than once” during their relationship.
The first source said, “Teddi isn’t excusing her behavior, but this was the first and only time she strayed outside of the marriage and says there’s two sides to the story. They are both to blame.”
A second insider, however, claimed that while Arroyave was “unfaithful” eight years ago, he “insists he has not had an affair since.” The source added, “It was a wake up call and since then he’s been focused on family and faith.”
Mellencamp, meanwhile, revealed during the November 14 episode of her “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast that “there’s multiple sides to every story.” She added, “I’m not going to confirm or deny anything.”
