Courtney Stodden Marries Fiancé Jared Safier After Flushing Ex’s Ring Down the Toilet
Courtney Stodden and fiancé Jared Safier married in a “last-minute” ceremony with just 20 guests at Casa de Monte Vista in Palm Springs, Calif., on Tuesday.
“We planned on getting married, and we didn’t have a date,” the reality star told Us Weekly. “We just kind of looked at each other, and we’re the same kind of crazy. We just looked at each other, and we’re just like, ‘This is the perfect time to do it.’”
Stodden, 30, and the TV producer, 41, started planning their wedding just three weeks prior when they realized both of their families could make it to the area for Thanksgiving break.
“It’s the holidays. It’s already stressful, and we just bought a house together, so we’re dealing with that,” the former beauty queen said. “Our family was like, ‘Are you guys crazy?’ and we’re like, ‘Yeah!’ It just felt like the right time.”
Stodden, who came out as non-binary in 2021 and uses they/them pronouns, wore a $60,000 vintage low-cut silk wedding dress and added a long, flowing veil with embroidered lace along the edges. They wore their curled hair in a half-up, half-down style and held onto a bouquet of red roses.
Meanwhile, the groom wore an all-black suit with a black tie and black shoes. He added a red rose boutonnière to complement his new spouse’s bouquet.
After the couple — who got engaged in June — said “I do,” they celebrated their nuptials with their guests at a reception featuring strictly vegan food.
“I am feeling excited. I feel like I am on a journey of where I’m supposed to be,” Stodden gushed. “Everything that has happened up to this point has led me here.”
Safier agreed, telling the magazine, “I get to marry my best friend and the love of my life, and I get to do it in front of [their] family and my family, so, very excited.”
Stodden rose to fame for their first marriage to Doug Hutchison in 2011 when they were just 16 and he was 51 years old.
“I think that it’s only natural for me because of my story to feel nervous about this because I really do want my happy ending,” the model said. “I want this to be it, and it’s nerve-racking because a lot of PTSD and a lot of different things have been swirling around, but I know that I’m marrying a really amazing man and I’m just hopeful, and so I’m feeling all the feels.”
In addition to their controversial marriage to Hutchison, Stodden made headlines for their relationship with ex-fiancé Chris Sheng.
The singer called off their two-year engagement in July 2023 and subsequently threw their engagement ring from Sheng down the toilet.
“I’m just doing a little last-minute spring cleaning before summer. I guess diamonds aren’t always a girl’s best friend after all. Toodle-oo! Onto the next chapter,” they said in a video released this past June.
In the clip, Stodden picked up the ring from a jewelry container before tossing it in a toilet and flushing it down the drain.
