Martha Stewart Shines in Gold and Sensible Shoes at the Footwear News Achievement Awards
Martha Stewart made an unforgettable entrance at 2024’s Footwear News Achievement Awards.
On Dec. 4, the entrepreneur, 83, was a vision in gold as she walked the red carpet glistening from head to toe.
Her layered winter ensemble consisted of a shimmery long-sleeve gold sweater worn underneath a gold trench coat. Stewart paired the look with gold skinny jeans and a layered pearl necklace, also in gold.
She wore her Pier-Lite My Reflection wedge slip-ons in a mocha colorway from her collaboration with Sketchers to complete her outfit.
The shoes, which include rhinestone embellishments, retail at $75 on the footwear company’s website. She took time on the carpet to pose with the likes of Brooke Burke and Kenneth Cole.
Speaking to her style motto for the holidays, she tells PEOPLE, “[Wear something] wearable, comfortable and indestructible. Yeah, you don’t wanna get grease stains on something, you know, that costs $5,000. So you wear something that’s washable.”
Each year, the FNAAs — often referred to as “the Shoe Oscars” — honor footwear’s most influential style stars, emerging talents, and industry veterans. During the ceremony, Stewart will receive the prestigious Icon Award. The other 2024 honorees include Kenneth Cole, American professional basketball player Angel Reese, and rapper A$AP Rocky.
“Straddling the line between an exclusive, industry insider event and a starry showcase for the shoe-loving celebrity world, the Footwear News Achievement Awards has a long and storied history of documenting the powerful intersection of sports, fashion and pop culture,” said Michael Atmore, Editorial Director of Footwear News and Chief Brand Officer of Fairchild Media Group, in a press release.
“The 2024 class of winners reflects incredible innovation, design prowess and business acumen. We are honored to reward the leaders, the brands, and the emerging talents that have shaped the year in shoes and celebrate the powerful and inspiring stories behind their achievements.”
Stewart had several monumental moments and memorable looks in 2024. Earlier this year, the business mogul rang in her 83rd birthday with Snoop Dogg at the 2024 Summer Olympics. The BFFs attended an equestrian team dressage event in style, each donning matching riding helmets, jackets, white pants and coordinated sunglasses.
In May 2024, Stewart shimmered when she showed up at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 60th anniversary issue party sporting a silky, champagne-colored ankle-length dress with an elegant crochet coverup.
The tastemaker continues to be booked and busy. On Oct. 30, Netflix dropped Martha, a new documentary that takes an eye-opening look into her life. And on Nov. 12, she released her 100th book — Martha: The Cookbook.
The title icon suits Stewart just fine.
“Legends are dead. I would much rather be an icon,” she told Footwear News during an in-depth June 2023 cover story.
“To me, an icon is a living person who has accomplished something extraordinary during their lifetime,” she adds. “My icons are adventurous, take risks and are forward thinking.”
