Billboard ranked Taylor Swift as the No. 2 on the “Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century” list. Many believe the pop star should have taken the No. 1 spot and think Beyoncé will be named
Billboard announced the artist that took the No. 2 spot on the “Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century” list: Taylor Swift.
Artists like Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, One Direction, Rihanna, Drake and others also made the list. Many have been waiting to see who Billboard ranked as No. 1 and 2 and made their own guesses on who it could be. The publication revealed on Tuesday, Nov. 26 that Taylor was ranked No. 2 and fans of the singer were not happy.
Billboard is a music publication that covers the music industry with charts, news, reviews, and events. In October, the music outlet chose to select the top 25 pop stars of the past 25 years. Since late August, Billboard has unveiled two musicians per week.
Billboard posted the ranking on Instagram and went through Swift’s last 15 years in the music industry. The singer has broken records, had one of the most successful tours, won Album of the Year at the Grammys four times and more. Because of her discography and success, Swifites were surprised that she was not ranked at No. 1.
Many believe she should have been crowned No. 1
One person commented under the post: “This is a joke ! She is the biggest pop star alive and we all know it.” Another fan wrote: “TAYLOR IS NEVER No. 2. She is the artist of the decade, century and all time. This is absurd and we all know it.” A third said: “THIS IS A JOKE RIGHT? Taylor is THE MUSIC INDUSTRY! Lit No artist has ever filled the top 10 spots on the top 100 and Taylor has done it twice!!!!!!!” A fourth wrote: “She deserved #1 don’t even lie she is the biggest artist of all time not just of the century.”
Even though Billboard has yet to announce who the “Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century” is, many believe the title will go to Beyoncé since she has yet to be ranked. Both Taylor and Beyoncé made history in 2023 with their new albums and tour. Beyoncé has been in the music industry since the 1990s and released music when she was in Destiny’s Child and solo.
