Scarlett Johansson Opens Up About Her ‘Super Close’ Bond with Her Twin Brother — Reveals He’s Single!
Scarlett Johansson’s twin is single and ready to mingle!
While appearing on Live with Kelly and Mark on Tuesday, Nov. 26, the actress shared a rare glimpse into her family life — and specifically, her relationship with her twin brother, Hunter Johansson.
Hunter (and his love life) came up in conversation as hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos asked Johansson — who turned 40 on Nov. 22 — about their twin connection, and how it’s held up over the years.
“Do you still have your telepathy?” Ripa, 54, asked the Black Widow star, who replied, “Oh my God, you’re obsessed!”
“You’re obsessed with adult twins!” the actress said as the co-host clarified: “Adult twins, specifically. When they’re little I’m like, ‘That’s adorable, but talk to me when you’re a grown up.’ ”
As the co-host explained that she finds adult twins particularly interesting because she feels like “there’s a telepathy involved” and “they know things about each other,” Johansson said that “of course” she and Hunter have a close bond.
“Of course we know so much about each other, because we were like… you’re in utero together,” the Marriage Story star said. “Which, I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, I guess I’ve always had you around.’ ”
“But, he’s also my brother, so he’s also just, like, a dude. So there’s that too,” she explained. “I feel like if we were identical twins, there would probably be more of that like mind-body thing, but I look at him and I’m like, ‘You’re also, like, a stinky dude.’ So we don’t have as much of that.”
After Ripa joked that the actress tries to “silence” their twin telepathy, Johansson clarified that she and Hunter have a very special connection — and revealed that he is currently not romantically involved with anyone.
“No, he’s great. We’re super close. My brother Hunter is… he’s a gem,” Johansson said. “He’s also single.”
And, after Ripa and Consuelos revealed that they think they “found somebody” for her twin to date, the actress turned to the camera to jokingly address Hunter’s potential partner: “See you next Thanksgiving!”
Johansson (who married husband Colin Jost in 2020) has previously opened up about her twin connection, telling PEOPLE in 2020 that she is “proud” of Hunter, who founded Solar Responders, a non-profit that helps first responders after natural disasters.
“If there is a truly altruistic person I know in my life, it’s my brother,” the actress said at the time.
“He reminds me to be a better person all the time,” she added. “I’m incredibly proud of him.”
