Woman Pretends to Call 911 for Pizza to Escape Sexual Assault
Pretending to call the emergency line to order pizza, an American woman fooled her sexual attacker and escaped.
Hernandez-Moncayo is accused of sexual assault and false imprisonment of the woman. |
In a call to 911 — the emergency number in the US — the unidentified woman told the dispatcher she wanted to order a pizza to a field in Volusia County, NBC reported.
“I want to order a pizza. I’m stuck here,” the woman says in a recording shared by the sheriff’s office.
The dispatcher asked her if she knew she was calling 911. “Yes, I’m sure I’m calling the right number. I’m trying to buy a pizza,” she replied.
The dispatcher then asked her if she knew where she was. The girl being restrained said, “I basically don’t know where I am.”
“Can I have a pizza? One slice of pepperoni and extra cheese,” she continued to ask.
Police Chief Michael J. Chitwood said officers were able to track the woman’s location and reach a field in Pierson. She told a 911 dispatcher that she was being held by a man, that he was unarmed and that she was injured.
Chitwood said police walked around until they heard loud music coming from the field. They found the perpetrator, Luis Diego Hernandez-Moncayo, on top of a screaming woman.
Body camera video released by the police department shows the moment police approached Hernandez-Moncayo, 27.
“Help me, help me,” the woman screamed when she saw the police and then cried bitterly.
After being rescued, the victim told police that she and Hernandez-Moncayo had gone out to the fields to drink alcohol, but the man suddenly became aggressive and refused to let her go.
“I have no better words to say about the amazing action shown in this video, and the intelligence of the victim in finding a way to call for help,” Chitwood shared on Facebook.
Hernandez-Moncayo was charged with attempted sexual assault, assault by strangulation and false imprisonment.
The sheriff’s office said Hernandez-Moncayo is an undocumented immigrant and was facing an immigration detainer, a requirement to hold a person for 48 hours so Immigration and Customs Enforcement can make an arrest.
