Fans are melting over the “secret message” left for Taylor Swift in an official proclamation issued by the mayor of Indianapolis, Joe Hogsett, on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Swift, 34, is scheduled to bring the final U.S. leg of her hit Eras Tour to an end at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana’s capital city over three consecutive nights starting on Friday, Nov. 1. In honor of her visit, and in recognition of the “expected nine-figure economic impact it will bring” to the city, Hogsett said in a post on social media that he was “pleased to proclaim the first weekend of November 2024 as ‘Taylor Swift Weekend’ in the City of Indianapolis.”
Hogsett shared a copy of his office’s official proclamation on X, formerly Twitter. The document recognized Swift’s Eras Tour as “the highest grossing tour of all time” and referred to it as “a cultural phenomenon that has made its mark on history for evermore.”

In addition to his reference to Swift’s 2020 album evermore, the proclamation was full of nods to other Swift album titles and songs. Eagle-eyed fans also noticed that Hogsett capitalized specific letters throughout the document, which, when put together, spelled out, “Welcome to Indianapolis.”
When Swift fan accounts retweeted the proclamation, Swifties applauded the sweet spin on the 14-time Grammy Award winner’s song “Welcome to New York” from her 2014 album 1989.
“There’s a secret message!!! ✨ ‘Welcome to Indianapolis’ ✨,” one fan tweeted while another echoed, “secret message!! says WELCOME TO INDIANAPOLIS 🥹.”
“Not him spelling out WELCOME TO INDIANAPOLIS on the document i love that,” another Swiftie chimed in.
The “Cruel Summer” songstress first kicked off her Eras Tour in the U.S. in March 2023 before taking it overseas. Once she completes her final U.S. show in Indianapolis on Sunday, Nov. 3, she is scheduled to bring her tour to Canada, where it will wrap up in Vancouver in early December.
