Zach Bryan has taken responsibility for not being “perfect” in his relationship with now-ex Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia after confirming on Tuesday that they had split.
The country star, 28, began in a lengthy post on her Instagram Story: “Brianna and I have separated and I respect and love her with all my heart.
“She has loved me unconditionally for a very long time and for that I will always thank her,” he added. “I have had a very difficult year personally and have struggled with some pretty serious things. I think it will be beneficial for both of us to go our separate ways.”
“I am not perfect and never will be,” he admitted.

He asked fans to respect LaPaglia’s privacy and “if you have that in your heart,” so will he.
“With all I have and with anyone I have let down, I apologize because I tried my best in everything. I failed those who loved me and most of all myself,” he concluded.

Bryan’s admission came a day after LaPaglia posted a cryptic handwritten note in a notebook that read: “Eventually, you’ll find life goes on, even when you don’t want it to.”
The message continued, “Days will pass and the world will move while you ask it to stop. You will believe that life is cruel to keep going while your feet are stuck. You will find people and moments to blame for your concrete feet. Then one morning you will wake up and realize that things still go on, life is not cruel to your feet, the world still keeps turning in the hope of showing you that you can do it too.
Following Bryan’s revelation that they had split, LaPaglia took to her Instagram Story once again to tell fans that she planned to take a break from social media.

“Hey guys, I’m feeling really overwhelmed right now,” she wrote on Tuesday. “I’m going to take a break from social media and try to heal privately, when I’m ready I’ll be back and ready to talk. I love you all so much, thank you for all your kind words. Remember you are loved so much and everything will be okay.”
LaPaglia reiterated that she felt “blindsided” in a YouTube video, in which she went into more detail, saying she had no idea he would post about their breakup.
“I just woke up to Zach posting on his Instagram that we broke up,” she said in the video. “I had no idea that post was going to come out. He didn’t text me. He didn’t call me. I woke up to a bunch of texts like, ‘Are you okay?’ And I was like, ‘Is my dad dead?’ And so I was completely blindsided by that.”

She added that she cried for about five days straight.
She said she couldn’t understand how someone could love someone “unconditionally through things that you shouldn’t do because you just love them, like you see the good in them” and still “get dumped after a few days.”
LaPaglia said she did not want to go into details about the breakup because she needed to “heal her personal wounds” first.
“I’ll be fine, I’ll be fine, obviously I’m really hurting right now,” she added.

In July, she posted a series of photos of the two of them together, calling him her “forever man.”
“A year filled with more love than I thought I could and more laughter than any year before,” she captioned the post. “You made me appreciate all the things that were always right in front of me. You brought me home to my family and you helped me love myself again.”

“25 years of making people laugh, bringing kindness into the room, and carrying the weight of everyone around you like it was easy,” he wrote. “You don’t judge at first glance, you have opinions, and you make every day brighter no matter the weather.
I love you Brianna, I pray I can say all of this in 25 years.”
