The story of the famous singer’s daughter is causing a stir in the media.

Most recently, famous singer R. Kelly – who is serving a decades-long prison sentence – was accused of sexual abuse by his own daughter. In the documentary Karma : A Daughter’s Journey , Buku Abi – R. Kelly’s eldest daughter – accused her father of sexually abusing her when she was 8 or 9 years old.

Buku Abi (formerly Joann Kelly , now 26 years old) said in tears: “I just remember waking up because I felt him touching me. At that time, I didn’t know what to do, so I just lay there pretending to be asleep.” The daughter of famous singer R. Kelly said that sometimes she couldn’t believe what her biological father had done to her, trying to deny the reality of the bad things that had happened because “He used to give me so many things.”

… accused her biological father of sexually abusing her when she was 8 or 9 years old.

Buku Abi insists that what she said was true. Her father’s abuse cast a shadow over her childhood: “I didn’t know my father was a bad person, that he would do something to me. I was too scared to tell anyone. I was too scared to tell my mother.” When Buku Abi was 10, her mother and she filed an anonymous complaint against R. Kelly to the police. However, the case was not brought to trial.

Also in the film, the 26-year-old girl said that her father’s actions had caused her to struggle with mental health issues for many years. Buku Abi once cut her wrists to commit suicide but was luckily discovered by her mother in time.
