Emily, Allison Kuch’s Sister, Reflects on Canceling Her Wedding Just Hours Before the Ceremony: ‘Love Was Absent.’

Emily Kuch is opening up about why she canceled her wedding to Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley.

During an appearance on the Sunday Sports Club podcast with her sister Allison Kuch on Oct. 13, the 32-year-old opened up about her nearly 10-year relationship with the pro athlete, 30, whose name wasn’t mentioned on the episode. She shared that the couple first met on Tinder and dated for over eight years before they got engaged in 2021.

“There was a lot of uncertainty around everything,” Emily explained, especially when her ex got injured in 2020. She recalled a conversation when he told her he was depressed amid his recovery.

“When you love somebody, you want to take away all their pain like all their struggles,” Emily said. “[There is] so much uncertainty about somebody’s professional life and a dream career they’ve always had and an identity they’ve had [with it].”

Despite those struggles, Emily said she did feel “pretty good” about their relationship up until “the week before” their bachelor and bachelorette parties. During her bachelorette party, she felt like there was “a sense of mistrust” when her then-fiancé would call her, questioning her about everything going on.

Later on, she found out that her partner had planned a second bachelor party outside the country. Emily recalled being “alarmed” by the news, especially since he hadn’t mentioned anything about it until the last minute and she unknowingly helped him pack his bags for the trip.

Emily added there was extra tension between the couple while they put their prenuptial agreement together, noting they “could not” resolve the arrangement at the time.

A big point of contention for the couple was around getting legally married. While Emily was content exchanging vows and not legally getting married, Emily revealed that her then-partner wanted to get married legally closer to the wedding.

“I don’t need to sign a paper to know that this person could be my husband the father of my kids,” Emily said. “It was more so saying vows in front of our friends and family that was the commitment to me.”

Later in the episode, Allison, 29, recalled seeing Emily “visibly upset” during the rehearsal dinner, noting that her sister’s then-fiancé didn’t sit with her or her family at the time. Emily also revealed that before the dinner, she felt “humiliated” when he showed up to the rehearsal “40 minutes late” wearing sweats.

When discussing what exactly went through her mind when she called off the wedding the morning of, Emily said that being in a “pressure cooker” situation pushed her to make the decision.

“I knew that in the moment that I saw him, I was either going to feel complete comfort and ease or it was going to be the pivotal moment to know this is not the path that I need to be on,” she added. “And it ended up not being my path.”

She added that when she confronted her then-fiancé on the day of her wedding, she had her full her and makeup done, and not once did he compliment her or tell her how beautiful she looked. “Love was not in the room with us,” she recalled. When she asked her groom if they should cancel the ceremony, she said he simply replied, “Yeah, I think that’s best.”

Though they decided to cancel the ceremony, she noted the groom continued on with the “whole reception,” which she later saw photos of on social media, calling the whole ordeal “devastating.”

While the decision to cancel the wedding was a difficult one, Emily said that she was really “proud” for choosing herself and making that decision.

Looking back at their relationship, Emily said that she “truly wants the best” for her ex. “I hope he achieves everything that he wants and more in this life and I hope he finds a partner that loves him unconditionally,” she added.
